Muros de la Tabacalera, Madrid

Muros means Walls, a Spanish public project aimed to turn the external walls of Tabacalera, Madrid former Tabacco factory, into spaces for urban art works. In the first edition of May 2014 the project highlighted the concept of ‘context’ as a fundamental element of urban art. 32 street artists were called to perform 27 murals on the walls. Spanish street artists Por Favor and Seven Logos worked together for the mural named 'Sirena Robacorazones'. Based on the issues related to the sound and the silence, their work has progressively evolved into the denunciation of some aspects of our modern society, such as the gender issue.

After the success of the first edition, the second edition of Muros took place in June 2016. One of the artists was Barbara Butragueño, a Madrid street artist and poet known as Chincheta.

Another artist was Graciela Goncalves, Argentinian street artist known as AnimalitoLand with her mural entitled 'Urban Nature', where there is child with a bag of seeds wandering around the city. In the last 10 years Graciela has been working mainly in graphic design, video games animation, toys design, experimenting her personal visual language. Five years ago she decided to move her creativity to the street. Since then, she has been travelling around the world, painting and growing from experience.

'La Niña' is a remarkable mural paint by Julia Silla, Spanish street artist from Valencia known as Julieta XLF, where XLF stands for Valencian Artist Collective, her family. After a degree in Fine Arts and a Master in illustration, she started street art. Her favorite subjects were flowers, animals, and a little girl named 'La Niña' who appeared in almost all of her works. Julieta's girl, with her closed eyes while she lets herself be carried away by her friends, is a chameleon because she adapts every time to a different place and situation in the world. The central theme of Julieta's art is the difficult relationship between human beings and Nature. The little girl represents the journey we all have to make inside ourselves to reconnect with the original world of Nature.

Last Year 25 new street artists gave new life to the walls of Glorieta de Embajadores, Miguel Servet and Mesón de Paredes for 2019 edition. One of the artist was Sara Fratini, street artist from Venezuela who painted the mural ‘Serpiente de dos cabezas’. The mural refers to the unpredictability of the snake, symbol of Nature, which can be mild but also very dangerous. So we must let it live and move in peace, because if it attacks, the world as we kwnow will end.
