Food

As a child I didn't eat much but then I've changed my mind. Apart from ice cream (who ever doesn't?), hen broth with tons of Parmesan cheese, and my grand mum's 'cannoli', I didn't like food. Growing up I luckily changed my mind. My first discovery was coffee, once super sugary daily treat while today a black bitter morning wake up. After a short veg parenthesis where I risked anemia, luckily came the meat and the wine, both rigorously red. As soon as I started travelling, I happily discovered the local food of the different countries I visited. Today my food taste got much better than before, and it includes many delicious dishes from all over the world which I am going to share with you.

GERMANY
Weihnachtsplätzchen

Bake and eat Weihnachtsplätzchen (Christmas Biscuits) for the first Sunday of the Advent is an old German tradition based on the preparation of countless varieties of cookies, such as Vanillekipferl, crescent shaped biscuits originally made with walnuts but also with almonds or hazelnuts, typically flavored by a heavy dusting of vanilla sugar. My favorite are delicious Engelaugen, small roundels of almond shortbread decorated in the center with red jam and sprinkled with sugar.
